Shevchuk before UGCC Synod in Rome: Ukraine does not understand the Pope
The head of the UGCC announced the convening of a Synod of the UGCC in Rome and a meeting with the Pope.
After the Pope's controversial remarks about "Mother Russia," the head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, announced the holding of a Synod of his organization in Rome and a meeting with the Pontiff, reports the UGCC website.
Shevchuk stated that "for some reason, it has turned out" that "the Pope doesn't understand Ukraine, and Ukraine doesn't understand the Pope." In this situation, the head of the UGCC believes that his organization should become a voice of "Ukrainian truth" for the Pope.
As earlier reported, according to Yelensky, the Pope "regrets" his words about Mother Russia.
